​Italy has been named the best family travel Bucket List destination for 2025.

With its rich cultural heritage, exquisite cuisine, and historical cities, Italy has long been a favourite among travellers. While often seen as a romantic getaway, it may surprise many that Italy is also an excellent choice for family vacations. According to the 2025 reports, based on annual surveys from over 2,200 international travel advisors, Italy emerged as a family-friendly travel destination worldwide, solidifying its status as a must-visit on any bucket list of destinations.

 

What makes Italy the best family vacation destination? 

 

Tuscany, for instance, offers families a chance to explore Renaissance art and architecture amid stunning landscapes. The region boasts over 100 wineries, many of which provide family-friendly activities to keep children entertained while parents savour local wines, with options ranging from grape stomping to petting zoos and treasure hunts. Beyond wineries, families can relax in the natural hot springs of Bagni San Filippo or Cascate di Mulino, hike the Elsa Trail to the Diborrato Waterfall, or cycle through the beautiful Tuscan hills. For a more hands-on experience, families can join cooking classes at Mama Florence or Podere II Casale in Siena, learning to cook classic Italian dishes together. Venice is another fantastic Italian destination for families and one of the top bucket list destinations. Parents and children can enjoy activities like gondola rides through the city's canals, tours of the Doge’s Palace, or strolls through the vibrant neighbourhoods of Burano.

For elderly kids, a glass-making class at a workshop like Ferro Toso is an excellent option. The Peggy Guggenheim Museum also offers free workshops for kids on Sundays, covering topics from abstract expressionism to renowned artists. And don't forget to visit Caffè Florian, Italy's oldest coffee house, established in 1720 in St. Mark’s Square, where you can enjoy robust coffees and delicious chocolates approved by kids. • Portugal has climbed to the top of the list of rising Bucket List Destinations thanks to its favourable climate, tasty cuisine, and stunning scenery, particularly in the Azores.

• Meanwhile, classic favourites like Italy, France, and Greece remain dominant as top international bucket list destinations.

• Paris  continues to be the preferred city, 

• Tokyo's growing popularity has placed it in this year’s top five.

• Families also favour Japan. It offers unique cultural experiences such as ryokan stays, tea ceremonies, and family-friendly attractions like the upcoming Universal Expo and Studio Ghibli Museum.

• Croatia  remains is a bucket list destination, with Dubrovnik attracting many visitors. Interest is increasing in lesser-known areas like inland Istria, especially among food enthusiasts looking for truffle hunting and wine-tasting experiences.​
